Dark Circles Under the Eyes: Pigment, Shadow, or Both
A brown ring and a hollow shadow are different problems. Creams, sleep, and fillers do not treat the same thing.

In short
Dark circles are either brown pigment in the skin, a shadow from a hollow under the eye, visible vessels, or a mix. Pigment is common on Indian skin after rubbing, eczema, or sun. A hollow is a contour, so a cream cannot fill it. Dr. L. Divya Skin Clinic in Miyapur looks at the under-eye area in person before discussing pigment care or, in selected hollows, filler.
Three patterns that look alike in a mirror
Brown colour that is still there when you stretch the skin is pigment. A shadow that lightens when you tilt your chin up is often a hollow, or a lid that sits deep. A blue or purple cast can be vessels showing through thin skin. Many people have two of these at once, which is why one cream is advertised for all of them and helps none completely.
On Indian skin, pigment is the pattern clinics see most. Rubbing from itch, atopic eczema around the eyes, and sun on unprotected skin all tell the melanin to stay. Hay fever season and a habit of rubbing the lids make the ring sharper.
What is worth doing at home
Stop rubbing. Treat the itch if eczema or hay fever is the reason you rub, rather than buying a new eye cream first. Wear sunscreen up to the orbital bone every morning. A plain moisturiser is enough if the skin feels crepey. Cucumber, ice, and toothpaste do not change melanin.
Give pigment months, not days. Dermatologists may discuss a prescription cream, and only sometimes a gentle procedure, once the cause is clear. Anything that irritates this skin leaves a darker ring than the one you started with.
- Sunscreen in the morning, including near the eyes once the product is tolerable
- Treat itch so the rubbing stops
- Skip acids and scrubs on the eyelid
What the Miyapur visit decides
The doctor looks at colour, contour, and the lids in ordinary light, and asks about allergies, eczema, and rubbing. Pigment care and filler are not interchangeable. Botox does not fade a brown circle. A filler, if it is suitable at all, is for volume, and the risks are discussed before any injection.

Questions patients ask
Tiredness can make a hollow or pallor look deeper for a day. It does not create a fixed brown ring. Brown colour that stays through a holiday is pigment, allergy, or rubbing, and it needs a different plan from an earlier bedtime.
A moisturiser can soften crepey skin. It does not remove melanin that sits in the skin, and it does not fill a tear trough. Any lightening cream near the eye has to be chosen by a doctor, because this skin is thin and irritates easily.
Filler is considered only for a true hollow, after an examination, and it carries risks including lumps and, rarely, vessel blockage. It does not bleach brown pigment. If the colour is melanin or allergy, filler is the wrong tool.
