Microneedling: What to Expect Before and After
Microneedling makes controlled channels in the skin to encourage repair. It is a course of treatment, not a one-day resurfacing.

In short
Microneedling uses a device with fine needles to create tiny channels in the skin, which can help selected acne scars and uneven texture. Skin is red for a few days. It is not done on infected, sunburnt, or actively inflamed acne, and one session does not clear scars. Dr. L. Divya Skin Clinic in Miyapur offers it only after the skin is examined.
What it is for
The channels trigger a repair response and can make some depressed acne scars less obvious over time. It can also be discussed for rough texture. It does not remove a mole, treat melasma by itself, or replace acne medicines while new painful spots are still forming.
Depth and the number of passes are chosen for the area. Cheeks, forehead, and around the mouth do not take the same settings. That choice is the medical part of the appointment.
Before the day
Tell the clinic if you have used isotretinoin, have a cold sore history, are pregnant, or have keloid scars. Recent sunburn, a rash, and active pustules are reasons to move the date. A peel and microneedling on the same afternoon is rarely sensible.
Stop retinoids and exfoliating acids for the interval the doctor gives you, often several days. Arrive with clean skin and no makeup on the area.
- Plan a quiet evening; the face looks flushed
- Do not book it the day before a wedding or a flight if you bruise easily
- Ask which scars are likely to change and which will not
Aftercare that actually matters
Use the bland moisturiser you were given, avoid gym sweat and makeup until the channels have closed, and stay out of strong midday sun. Sunscreen returns as soon as the skin can tolerate it. Picking flakes reopens the skin.
Increasing redness, pus, or fever is not normal downtime. Call the Miyapur clinic rather than starting an antibiotic from a previous prescription.
Questions patients ask
A numbing cream is usually applied first. You still feel vibration and scratching. Pain that feels sharp or uneven is a reason to pause and tell the clinician, not a sign you should endure more depth.
Redness settles in days. Texture, if it changes, is judged over a series of sessions weeks apart. Flat brown marks from old spots are pigment, not scars, and may need a different plan.
Home rollers are a common cause of infection and extra pigment, especially on Indian skin tones. A clinic device, sterile tips, and a decision about depth are not the same as a roller bought online.
